Standards for Journalists & Authors

Welcome to AllTruth. These guidelines exist to protect editorial integrity, contributor safety, and the long-term stability of the platform. They are not meant to restrict journalism — but to ensure it can exist here responsibly and sustainably.

Foundational Principles

AllTruth is built on mutual trust between contributors, readers, and the platform itself. By publishing here, you agree to:

  • Practice responsible and ethical journalism
  • Report information honestly and with due care
  • Protect confidential sources at all times
  • Verify claims before publishing
  • Clearly separate factual reporting from opinion or interpretation

Ethical Journalism Standards

All contributors are expected to follow established journalistic ethics, including:

  • Accuracy, fairness, and context in reporting
  • Independence from political, financial, or personal conflicts of interest
  • Accountability for published work
  • Care when reporting on vulnerable individuals or communities
  • Transparency regarding sources, limitations, and methodology

We strongly encourage familiarity with professional ethics frameworks such as the SPJ Code of Ethics or equivalent international standards.

Publishing Guidelines

Linking Rules

To maintain quality and prevent abuse:

  • Maximum three active external links per article (citations excluded)
  • Links must directly support the article’s substance
  • No affiliate links, referral schemes, or SEO manipulation
  • External links must complement reporting — not replace it

Multimedia Use

Video Content

❌ Do not upload video files directly Hosting video content creates costs that a volunteer-run platform cannot absorb.

✅ Videos may be embedded from reputable services such as:

  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • Comparable established hosting platforms

All embedded videos must be editorially relevant and comply with these guidelines.

Images

✅ Upload only images you own or are licensed to use ✅ Credit photographers or licensors where required ✅ Optimize images before upload (ideally under 5MB per file)

Prohibited Content

The following will not be tolerated: ❌ Plagiarism or copyright violations ❌ Knowingly false, fabricated, or deceptive reporting ❌ Harassment, hate speech, or intimidation ❌ Promotional material presented as journalism ❌ Malware, phishing, or harmful embedded content ❌ Breaches of source confidentiality ❌ Publishing private or identifying information without consent

Enforcement & Moderation

AllTruth reserves the right to:

  • Restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines
  • Remove content that fails to meet ethical or technical standards
  • Act immediately in cases involving security, safety, or legal risk

Possible reasons for enforcement include:

  • Repeated or serious guideline violations
  • Publishing demonstrably false information
  • Harassment or abuse of community members
  • Attempts to manipulate platform systems
  • Excessive or abusive resource usage

Editorial enforcement is based on conduct and standards, not political position, ideology, or viewpoint.

Appeals Process

If you believe an action was taken in error, you may submit an appeal via the contact page. Appeals are reviewed carefully; however, final decisions rest with AllTruth.

  • Disagree on substance — not through personal attacks
  • Accept constructive criticism professionally
  • Never expose confidential sources

Corrections & Updates

  • Correct factual errors promptly
  • Clearly note substantial corrections within the article
  • Update reporting as new information becomes available

Your Rights as a Contributor

You always retain:

  • Full copyright over your original work
  • The freedom to republish elsewhere
  • Control over your author profile
  • The right to edit or remove your content

AllTruth provides:

  • A secure publishing platform
  • Hosting and technical infrastructure
  • Privacy-focused account handling
  • A community of independent journalists

Platform Capacity & Responsibility

As a volunteer-operated platform with limited resources, we ask contributors to:

  • Embed large media instead of uploading it
  • Optimize files before publishing
  • Avoid unnecessary server load
  • Understand that capacity is finite
